TGIT

TGIT, is that a thing? It should be a thing if its not, because goodness lord am I glad its Thursday.  Even though its been a short work for me, its still been busy and I am so ready for Friday and my chill weekend. In honor of my TGIT state of mind, a simple outfit was the perfect plan. I'm having a little love affair with my skirts lately, and mixing my favorite little keys skirt with a simple stripped tee was perfect.

Today one of my coworkers commented that my hair looked awesome, I didn't really get it, but looking at these photos, now I do. If I do say so myself, I had a pretty great hair day!
On a totally different topic, you should get this purse. I got it for Christmas and I love it, its my every day go to bag. Obviously, the lovely Kendi knew this and she is now rocking a fabulous white version for spring, and my delightful friend Bijal also got one in teal. So really, join our cool kids club and get this bag!

Found it!

Late last year I feel in love with this photo on pinterest. I spent the next few months trying to find a similar skirt and I finally did. I love stripes and am so excited to play around with them on a totally new piece of clothing. Plus the skirt has a lovely poof and pockets, so really, its a major win! This mustard top was my number one want item in the Jason Wu for Target collection. I've been waiting to wear it and thought with this skirt it was just lovely. I love the vintage feel of this top and I know its going to be awesome this summer.

It's been a crazy long week at work and I am so excited tomorrow is Friday. I am having a lovely lunch with some of my favorite ladies and then tomorrow night I am finally going to watch this weeks Mad Men! Needless to say, I am pretty excited for Friday. For now, I'm off to eat a delicious dinner of pasta and homemade sauce with spicy sausage and homegrown basil and drink yummy blood orange mimosas!

Uniform

I apparently have a Friday uniform. I was unaware of this until this morning, as I was walking into my office it dawned on me that I had worn the exact same outfit last Friday. I love fun clothes and during the week I find it easier to embrace this love with fun dresses, skirts, and tops. However, the jeans casualness of my office on Friday didn't feel as fun or interesting. Thankfully, the fashion gods decided to bring back colored denim this season and it has given me a whole new love of Friday casual. Apparently this love has translated itself into cardi, striped top, colored pants, printed flats. Its fun, comfortable, and fashionable, I call that a win all around.

We enjoyed the Hunger Games last night. Obviously the books were better but that's always the case, isn't it? This weekend I'll be finishing planting the garden and working on some Pinterest DIYs! I'm pretty excited for a cork board on the pantry door and a chalkboard too! I'm sure I'll be posting photos on the twitters and instagram, so look for exciting craft up dates there!

'Ello

This is the dress I got from LuLu's at the Texas Style Council Swap. I've never been inclined to make a purchase from Lulu's, but after seeing some of their pieces in person, I might be able to look past their terrible website styling and purchase some things. For now though, I will enjoy this adorable dress. I wore it to work with black flats and a black cardi, but for our evening walk with the pup, it was so lovely that no cardi was needed and Toms were far more comfortable.

Can we talk about this random phone booth for a moment. Its in our neighbors yard, a block down or so from our house. Its real, like I think they might have stole it off the street real, and has a no trespassing sign inside of it. Why they have done this, we have no idea, but it seemed like an appropriate place to take photos.
I went strawberry picking this weekend, so I'm off to prep strawberries for freezing and decide which kind of pie or cobber I'm going to make!

Terrifically Tall

Over the weekend I found these great wedges at Target. I can't explain it, but they were the only pair in the store, in my size, and on sale for $8, yet online they are still full price. I'm pretty sure this pair was destined for my closet. I am not normally a lady who wears 5 inch heels, but I figured for the price, I could take the chance. They were actually fairly comfortable but then again I spent most of my day sitting at my desk sorting data. Maybe next time I'll be brave and try them out on a busy day.

This evening we went to Lowe's after I got home from work. Its time to begin gardening here in Central Texas and we're really excited about it this year. We finally have a yard to spread out in a bit, so we're going big. I can't wait for delicious tomatoes, peppers, herbs, onions, and lettuce, basically its going to be awesome! I also decided I'd try potting geraniums this year, so hopefully I'll have pretty hanging pots of flowers in a few months!

Confounded by Stripes

I've had this skirt for a while, you've seen its black twin a few times, but it took me a bit to figure out how to style this version. It's full of awesome colors, but they happen to be awesome colors I don't have a lot of, so it sat in my closet staring at me. Then suddenly one day it was like a brick hit my head and I thought, white oxford, classic, in the color pattern of the skirt, and perfect.

This week is basically all just a count down to Friday. Come Friday at 3 I will be in a SXSW TX Style Council state of mind and I cannot wait!! I had a lovely lunch with Julie from Loyal Style on Sunday and talking about fashion and blogs with her for an hour made me ridiculously excited to spend a whole weekend with 250 women who all love this as much as me!

linen blend

There was an event at work today, I didn't go, but because there was a chance VIPs might be in the office, there were no jeans allowed. Obviously this meant it was time to pull out my bright pink linen blend skirt. Add my go to stripes and leopard flats, and bam a fun Friday dress up outfit.

I snagged this skirt thrifting last summer, but hadn't worn it until now. I tend to do that with thrifted pieces, you get home, wash them, they get put away and sometimes I forget to wear them for months, but I'm okay with that, it made wearing it today that much better since it was new! Speaking of thrifting, I am SO excited for the TxSC Thrifting Workshop next weekend! Gotta say being that its in Austin and I'll be learning tricks in my own neck of the woods makes it even better! Don't worry, I won't let my finds from that adventure languish in my closet for 6 months!

75 Degrees

Yay, an actual post! I haven't been in a dress mood this week, so this skirt was just perfect. At work I had a cardi on all day, but by the time I got home for outfit photos it was 75 degrees out and a cardi seemed silly. Also, speaking of 75 degrees on February 15th, I love Texas.

I have had my eye on these flats at Target for about a month, but this past weekend I broke down and brought them home. They are such a great mix of colors and the pattern is awesome. I am sure you'll be seeing them a lot over the next few months, also they are a whopping $15, so you should go get a pair too!

Stripes & Equality

I've had this shirt for over 6 months and this is the first time I've worn it and I have no idea why. Its got a great cut, a classic pattern, and its totally work appropriate. One of my goals this year is to wear everything in my closet and pulling this out last night reminded me that I have a lot of hidden gems.

I decided today after watching this, that I soon plan to venture into a JC Penney. I've never really shopped there before, but if a company can be awesome and stand up to bigots, then I am happy to give them a shot.

Master's

Sometimes I think I really embrace my Master's Degree in Library Science, and dress like I should be sitting behind a reference desk helping people find the perfect Nicolas Sparks novel. My mom, however, will tell you that she would not wear these wedges while working in her library, but then again, she never did understand where my love of shoes came from.

Today I did get to use my degree though, so that was fun. I love it when I get to research all morning. My sister likes to tell people I am a professional Facebook stalker, which I was in grad school, now my technique a bit more refined. However, I am your go to girl if you want info on that guy you met online.

The higher the heel

I'm wearing new heels today. I love them (as does everyone in my office, compliments are the best!) but they are HIGH and I've warned everyone I may fall down at any moment. But, isn't the saying "The higher the heel, the closer to God"? If that's the case, then I think I'll be just fine.

Tonight is my youngest brother-in-laws 21st birthday dinner (the joys of marrying into a big family is my new siblings-in-law out number all my cousins, so there is always something to celebrate!) The goal is to last in the new shoes not only for work, but for the dinner too. I'm nearly certain there is nothing classier than eating sushi in coral pumps, I'm excited!

Saturday Craves

In Austin we have cedar trees, and I, like many Austinites, am extremely allergic to them. Which means for about 6 weeks at the start of every year I hide inside my house and try to avoid breathing the "fresh" air outside. Today this avoidance of air lead me to online window shopping and I wanted to share a few of my most favorite finds.

I love leopard, and this top is fantastic, tailored, and very work appropriate but still fun, which its the perfect combo!

How adorable is this cardi? I love the dots and the collar.

The item I am most likely to break down and buy. The pleats, the buttons, the color, its all wonderful!

I am apparently in need of green bottoms, and these jeans are just great. I have them in red but I think green would be awesome.

I can't get enough stripes and this dress is darling and could certainly carry over from winter to spring.

I've been enamored of these shoes for a few months. I think they have a lovely mix of mountain girl toughness with ladylike charm.

Who doesn't enjoy a sparkle pump? I have no real need for these, but I think they would be fun and certainly spice up any average workday outfit.

Thanks for coming along on my shopping adventure! What are your recent online window shopping craves?
