April Fool's Baby

There are a few things in this life that I can just never pass up, a cup of coffee is one of them, burnt orange dresses are another. When I saw this lovely little dress, I knew it needed to be mine, it has work functions and football games written all over it. If you live in Austin and you bleed orange, I suggest you get yourself to Target ASAP, something tells me this dress will be gone in a flash, and that something is the multiple ladies at my office who are heading there to pick up their own right now.

I had a lovely and productive weekend. A clean house, fresh baked goods, and a fully planted garden. It was also Miss Petunia Jean's first birthday! She's an April fool's baby, so we had a little doggy celebration complete with peanut butter papaya ice cream. It was great, even if I can't quite believe my tiny tunes is now a year old.

Crawfish makes everything better

I love dresses. This love leads me to have a lot of dress, so many, in fact, that I often forget I have them. Take this dress for example, I got it a few months ago and have worn it once. That is silly. I have so many great things I need to start wearing them and that starts today. Get ready to see all my favorite dresses styled for spring!

Has this week felt super long to anyone else? I can't tell if its the weather (boo rain), or just my impatience for TXSC. Either way today felt like it should be Saturday and I am so glad tomorrow is Thursday. For now, I'm off to make the night better by eating crawfish and drinking beer with the family.

Staff Shirt

Earlier this year we were given staff shirts at work. Most folks have worn them with jeans, but I thought I would find a way to mix it up and make it a bit more fun. Obviously the solution was a skirt and a fun belt. Thankfully I have many brunt orange options and this belt was just perfect.

I got the idea of using this belt from the lovely Melissa at Dear Baby. Not only is her blog awesome, her kids are seriously adorable, and she's super fashionable. If you're not all ready, you need to start reading her blog, asap.

They're back

Today I wanted simple, I knew I was going to busy at the office, so a dress and a few pops of color it was. I've always avoided orange and blue together, I blame this on being a Saints fan growing up in the land of blue and orange Broncos fans. However, the combination of rust and teal I am really liking, who knows maybe by the end of summer I'll be in neon orange and electric blue.

Did you notice whats back? My beloved boots! I managed to love them to the point that the heel fell off, so they spent last week at the shoe hospital. They've been re-heeled, re-soled, and reconditioned. The cobbler told me he had more pairs of this boot in the shop than any other, apparently I'm not the only one who loves these boots. As I left, he also told me he'd see me when I wore them out again, which I am sure he will.

Pizazz

Today there was a big all staff meeting on campus for our team. Thankfully they made the attire casual, nothing worse than a half day meeting in the middle of campus on a Friday that you also have to dress up for. So since it was a Friday, I naturally wore jeans and since the meeting was in the middle of campus and that called for walking, I wore flats, and since I love to show school spirit, I rocked the burnt orange cardi. I have no reason for the sequined covered tee or the large cat pendent, other than I like to add a bit of pizazz to everything I do.

I've never worn this many sequins at one time before. I wasn't really sure I loved the idea of it, but when I found this tee on super sale at Ann Taylor last weekend, I just went for it. I may have been called a disco ball, but I owned it and loved it. I can't wait to dress this up a little next time.

Longhorn

Today my outfit had a theme, and that theme was Longhorn pride! When I saw this dress, I knew I had to have it! Not only is is a great pattern and cut, its also the PERFECT color! Its cute now and cute forever at events and football games. Sometimes, living in the land of burnt orange is a great thing. Okay, most of the time.

If there is one thing fashion blogs have taught me, its never wear the belt the dress came with, with the dress. So I knew the moment I ordered this, I would need to find a new belt to go with it. I chose this one because I loved the way the circle looked against the chevron. I also felt this hem required heels, thankfully my favorite oxford wedges were the perfect finishing touch!

Polka Dots & a Bow

Thursdays can be tough and Thursdays the first week back after a nice vacation are the toughest. So when I looked at my closet this morning, I wanted simple. Nothing says simple like a nice black pencil skirt. I added a fun blouse on top and even though I wasn't super excited about the day, I looked it. Besides nothing makes a day better than polka dots and a big bow.

We all know I love Target, obviously, 2/3rds of today's outfit is Target. However, can I just say they've knocked it out of the park with the Jason Wu collection and I've only seen a handful of pieces. Since this collection launches on a Sunday, I'm thinking I'll be one of the loonies at the store as soon as they open! That polka dot and pearl dress is mine!

New Year, New Dress

Happy New Year! Now that the craziness of the holidays is over, I'm back to blogging and in fact have made it a goal of mine to be proactive on this blog this year, I get dressed every day so there is no reason I shouldn't have my husband photograph it!

Today was my first day back in the office after the holidays and I felt this called for a new dress. I love so many things about this dress, from its awesomely longhorn friendly color to the pattern, which is actually little feathers, when I saw it, I knew it needed to be my Christmas gift to myself.

I also love that I can pair any number of my belts, cardis, or boots with this dress. It makes it a super versatile piece which is nice, since you wouldn't normally think of burnt orange as "versatile."

It was very cold this morning, but thankfully, I had a lovely coat to wear once outfit photo time was over. Also, the scarf is from another very talented crafter in my family, my awesome sauce Granny Annie.
