Maxi

I had been thinking about trying the maxi skirt trend but when I saw this post by the lovely Sydney I knew that I had found just the right skirt to try out.

I decided to pair it with my two loves this season, leopard and rust (or burnt orange as we call it in Longhorn Land) This outfit felt relaxed and comfortable but looked really put together and kind of fancy. I think it certainly caught people off guard which is always fun.

Compton Style

So as I was drifting to sleep last night, I realized I forgot to update about the most important thing that happened in my blog absence and was really the main reason that I disappeared for so long.
I got married!!!

I guess I should rename the blog ComptonStyle, but I won't mostly because Valliant sounds cooler. Once I get the professional photos I'll do a little wedding day fashion post but for now I'll say that it was the best day of my life and the clothes just made it better.

To see the first professional photo check out the blog post by the AMAZING Photographers Skeen here! I can't wait to share more with you!

Fall!

This outfit is everything I love about Fall.
Leggings, boots, cardigans, and scarves!

A few things to note now that we're getting back into the swing of things.
We moved to a cute little neighborhood full of giant trees and quite streets. I love it!
I started a new job and the building is always freezing. It used to be research labs but its now open office space and the heating and cooling was never changed over, so random places that used to be labs are either really hot or really cold. The job is awesome, the temperature situation is not. Therefore, even though at times it's still 75 out I will be in tights and cardis until further notice.

Also, these boots, are one of my favorite things! I got them last winter as a wooo one time merit increase gift to myself and if you can, you should get a pair too, they are that awesome!

I'm coming back!

I am putting this post here to remind myself that I have over a week of outfit posts to share but I have been lazy and don't want to edit, but that is not going to fly anymore. I'm getting back on the fashion blogging horse, even if it means I'm going to be taking a lot of photos in my dinning room thanks to stupid day lights savings. Anywho, here is the photo I put on my instagram (@altaann, follow me yo, I've become a bit addicted) to try and keep me honest and on the right track, but I think if I put it on the blog, I really will get myself together.

Also, because she's cuter than me, I'll give you a little Petunia Jean

Golden Hour

We took photos later than normal last night and goodness did they turn out nicely. I think the sunset compliments my yellow belt quite nicely!

The goal of this outfit was work appropriate but cool and a little fun. I am currently having a love affair with strips and this lovely little tee was a nice companion to this khaki skirt. I normally hate khaki, I just find it really boring, but I love this skirt as a nice neutral. The belt continues with this weeks yellow theme, I thought it added a fun pop of color to the mostly black and whiteness of the outfit. The purse is one of 3 I have in heavy rotation and was just the right size to take to dinner with the family.

This is what happens when you take outfit photos at 7pm and its still 102 out. Seriously OVER this heat wave!

The magic dress

I got this magic dress while I was home. I say "magic" because my cousin, sister, and I all got one and it looks great on all of us! There are pictures to prove it, but they're on my mom's camera.

I also got the belt and shoes while I was home. We had one day of shopping fun and it was quite successful. I had been looking for a belt that was light and dark and this was PERFECT and on sale!! Also, it was a gift from my lovely cousin, so really the belt is just made of win.

I think the thing I love most about this outfit is how good I feel in it. I've spent the last 7 months working on my fitness in prep for my wedding, and its fun to get to wear new things and feel really great in them!

I'm back

I had a wonderful trip in Denver and once folks put up photos on Facebook that I can steal, I will attempt a post of my Denver Fashion, but for now we'll go with what I wore to work today.

I ordered this skirt and belt from Ruche before I left town and was SO excited to come home to them. I've developed a bit of a belt problem (as you'll soon notice) but I figure as a girl who has never had belts before, I'm 25 years behind on building my collection.

This skirt had to be mine the moment I saw it! Elephants and my current favorite color combo of gray and mustard? Get in my closet!

I wasn't planning on wearing the belt and skirt together but when I got dressed this morning, it just made sense!

Pink shoes (my translucent skin version of the nude shoe) and red toes topped of the outfit.

Top: H&M (last summer)
Skirt: Ruche (thanks for the Xmas gift card mom!)
Belt: Ruche
