Pop!

I love a good pop of color, which is why I decided to rock the mustard tights today with the subdued tones of this lovely striped dress. I also did my fav stripes and leopard. The dress has some great 3/4 sleeves with smaller stripes, someday when its not freezing out, I'll show them to you. It was a busy day at the office, so simple and comfy is all I wanted, this seemed to fit the bill perfectly!

I felt very Joan from MadMen in this dress, it was tight but not too tight, and made my curves look great. I know you can't really tell from this particular styling, but its a great little dress and its warm, so I'm sure it will be back again soon.

Nothing like a little wool

It continues to be cold here in the Lone Star State, which is just fine with me! Cold means I can finally wear all the awesome winter things I got on insane super sale this summer. I know it was a little crazy to buy a wool skirt in July, but I did it and 5 months later it was perfect and super cute!

You see that infinity scarf? My Mama made it for me last Christmas. I found it today when I pulled out the wool coat and my goodness was I happy to see it! Not only is it super warm and an awesome color, its like getting a hug from my mom all day long and nothing is better than that.

My joyful face when I got to put my coat on!

Chopped!

This weekend, I went and chopped about six inches off my hair and had it died this awesome red brown shade of wonderful. I also got my bangs back, which makes me so darn happy. It took me 45 minutes this morning to figure out how to do my hair, but I think I settled on something pretty great. I got rave reviews at work, complete with my boss telling me it made me look grown up. Woo finally a grown up at 26!

It was COLD today in Austin, like legitimately cold, so that means sweater, tights, and boots, it was cute and kept me toasty warm all day. Plus I couldn't get too crazy, the focus needed to be on the 'do!

For reference, Petunia isn't the only cute furry animal around here.
Clark is quite the handsome boy!

A Rainy day in Austin town

What is this falling from the sky? Its rain!
We haven't gotten hardly any rain around these parts this year, so today was strange and awesome. I never look out my windows in the morning before getting dressed, but today I did and goodness was I glad! Today called for faux patent leather flats, not nice velvet ones. Add a comfy tee, a cardi, and a good scarf and you've got an outfit made in rainy Friday heaven.

I'm signing in the rain, just singing and taking style blog photos in the rain!

Good things come to those who wait

It took me a long time to get dressed this morning. I finally settled on this outfit and I'm pretty glad I did. I knew I wanted to work around my new shoes and that I didn't want to wear a pencil skirt, which lead to my rocking the maxi, which in turn made me feel like I was in jammies all day, and that's awesome!

So remember all that Massoni nonsense back in August? Well I went to Target on the first day, at noon, and EVERYTHING was gone, except some knee socks. All I had really wanted were the flats, so I went home sad. Well about 3 weeks ago I was looking at the sale shoes in Target and what did I find? The awesome sauce flats I'd wanted, in my size, and on sale!! There were little Target angles looking down on me that day, woowoo!!

Cranberry

Today I was asked if my tights were pink or red, I responded that they're cranberry, because that seems like the obvious holidayish answer to this question, also its what the package said.

This dress is from the Tucker for Target collection, which is still to this day my favorite Target designer collection. I love everything about this dress, it works in every season and with all sorts of colors. Its my go to happy dress and to be honest, I have to remember to that I can't wear it every week, even though I wish I could.

Bombs away

So my sister and I did a little Black Friday shopping and on our adventure I found an amazing deal on this sweet bomber jacket! I'd always wanted one but wasn't sure I could justify the expense. Once again Target steered me right, and now I have a sweet bomber jacket. You might also have seen the lovely Kendi rocking this same jacket, and I'll be honest, seeing her work it made me keep my eye out a little more.
My next step is to work it into my whole day out fit, rather than just my outside when its cold jacket.

I once again represented my love of this mustard yellow cardigan and black pencil skirts. This is however a new Black Friday pencil skirt, from the super sale rack, apparently no one else bothered to notice the reason it wouldn't zip down was the zipper was stitched over, all it took was a little ingenuity with my car keys to cut the string, and bam, a sweet super sale skirt for me!

This is one of my many vintage owls, I found him half broken and half off at Buffalo Exchange, a simple trip to Joann's to get him a new eye and some pliers to fix a too wide ring, and he's as good as new and twice as awesome!

Cold = Sweater Dress

Today was the coldest day of the "winter" so far, it wasn't even 40 while we took these photos, so obviously that meant it was time to pull out the sweater dress I bought a month ago but didn't have reason to wear until now. I'm glad I did, it kept me toasty warm all day! Also, a fun fact for your Monday, if you live in Austin you have to buy these online, for some reason our local Target doesn't carry sweater dresses, weird!

I got this belt because I really wanted a dark brown belt, mainly to go with my non black but still dark shoes. When I saw this on Ruche, I knew it was meant to be, its just the right size and I love how the clasp looks like a bow! Its like not only did I get dressed this morning, but I give you myself as a present, and who doesn't love a little present on a Monday morning?

Just a little Blue steal for you.

Thief

I blatantly stole this outfit from a photo I saw on Pinterest. I loved the simple mix of black and brown and since I had all of this in my closet, it was a no brainer on a jam packed half work day. There is nothing better than an over sized cardi and leggings while furiously working on spreadsheets for 4 hours.

I have fallen into the fashion bloggers who hate winter* category, Peter and I now have to take my photos before work, which is far to early for me to be photographed. I apologize, in advance, for the puffy eyes and half awake smiles you'll be seeing over the next few months, and the look in the photo below, ugh, so not a morning person.

*winter in the sunrise/sunset time sense only, since it was 75 degrees today and that in no way equals actual winter.

Did you get the memo?

This weekend I did a little thrifting and I happened upon one of my best finds in a while, this lovely leather belt from Fossil. As a general rule I tend not to buy belts new (especially leather belts) because you can always find such great deals at thrift stores, like this one, it still had its original price tag of $30 but I paid $5 and that's awesome!

I knew today was going to be nuts at work so I wanted simple but girly. If my day's going to be crazy at least I can feel pretty in a fun dress and heels, so LBD (little black dress) and leopard wedges it was. Apparently this was a memo many of my coworkers got as I was one of 4 ladies rocking the LBD, is always nice when everyone gets the memo in time.

Blue Monday

Woo for Monday of a 2.5 day week. We had an event luncheon thing on campus today, so I needed to dress up a little but not stick out, hence the simple pencil skirt and high neckline. This cardigan is the brother to my mustard yellow cardigan, I loved it so much I got it in two more colors this weekend. I do this every winter, find a cardi style I love and get it in as many colors as I feel I need and this peacock blue was a need for this year.

You might notice the festive red cup in my hand, that would be a delicious Caramel Brulee Latte from Starbucks, its my version of the pumpkin spice latte nonsense so I will be having a great number of these for the next month, yum! Plus I think the red is a nice addition to the outfit.

Notice, the crazy that is Petunia Jean during outfit photos, silly pup.

Love list

Friday, man do I love Friday. Friday means jeans and the end of the week! Two things I happen to love! You might have noticed my current love is this mustard cardigan, I was on the hunt for this cardi for months so I'm loving remixing it! Also, I finally found a simple leopard scarf and as soon as it arrived I knew it was meant to go with mustard yellow.

Also, yay for new wedges, I was so excited when I found these affordable loafer wedges! I was even more excited when I got compliments on them all day long and was once again able to sign the praises of Target, because we all know that is also something I love. To top all of this love off, I did one of my favorite accessories, red lipstick. It's not a look I rock every day but it is a look I love and I love it even more with a simple jeans and a tee combo.
