Minty Leopard

This outfit combines 3 things I love my accordion pleat skirt, leopard, and mint. It makes me smile and it happens to be the only outfit I've managed to photograph in the last 2 weeks. Life has just been busy, and its been hard to fit the photos in, but I promise I have been getting dressed.

I think May might be the busiest month in Austin. Its light out later, its warm but not terribly hot yet and it seems everyone plans events because its nice and we want to enjoy it before the oppressive heat of summer settles in and no one wants to go outside. I am going to work on figuring out how to fit outfit photos in, I've missed my little blog and I'm sure you've missed the photos of Petunia.

Moves like Audrey

Today one of my coworkers told me I reminder her of Audrey Hepburn, I think it was one of the nicest comments I've ever gotten. I do not believe I in anyway resemble Ms. Hepburn but if I can rock an outfit with the same does of ladylike fabulousness, then that is awesome.
On a totally unrelated note, I would like to formally petition Old Navy to make this top in more colors, asap. It looks way more expensive than it is, and its fits wonderfully and it's thin fabric but not see through. It is pretty much perfect for a Texas summer but right now only comes in leopard or snow leopard. Which is great, but I'd like it in pink, black, blue, green, you get the picture.

We're gearing up for a quite Easter here at the Compton house. I'm going to do a little more gardening, hanging out with the dog, and catching up on my comic book reading which I've been ignoring to that extent that I've got about 4 months of issues backed up. I hope you have a wonderful and restful holiday weekend!

Uniform

I apparently have a Friday uniform. I was unaware of this until this morning, as I was walking into my office it dawned on me that I had worn the exact same outfit last Friday. I love fun clothes and during the week I find it easier to embrace this love with fun dresses, skirts, and tops. However, the jeans casualness of my office on Friday didn't feel as fun or interesting. Thankfully, the fashion gods decided to bring back colored denim this season and it has given me a whole new love of Friday casual. Apparently this love has translated itself into cardi, striped top, colored pants, printed flats. Its fun, comfortable, and fashionable, I call that a win all around.

We enjoyed the Hunger Games last night. Obviously the books were better but that's always the case, isn't it? This weekend I'll be finishing planting the garden and working on some Pinterest DIYs! I'm pretty excited for a cork board on the pantry door and a chalkboard too! I'm sure I'll be posting photos on the twitters and instagram, so look for exciting craft up dates there!

Terrifically Tall

Over the weekend I found these great wedges at Target. I can't explain it, but they were the only pair in the store, in my size, and on sale for $8, yet online they are still full price. I'm pretty sure this pair was destined for my closet. I am not normally a lady who wears 5 inch heels, but I figured for the price, I could take the chance. They were actually fairly comfortable but then again I spent most of my day sitting at my desk sorting data. Maybe next time I'll be brave and try them out on a busy day.

This evening we went to Lowe's after I got home from work. Its time to begin gardening here in Central Texas and we're really excited about it this year. We finally have a yard to spread out in a bit, so we're going big. I can't wait for delicious tomatoes, peppers, herbs, onions, and lettuce, basically its going to be awesome! I also decided I'd try potting geraniums this year, so hopefully I'll have pretty hanging pots of flowers in a few months!

Lady Leopard

Trying to keep with my goal of wearing things in my closet that I love but haven't worn a lot, I felt today was the perfect day for my Jason Wu skirt. Goodness is this skirt great. I feel so girly and put together when I wear it. I wish it came in a million colors (hear that Target, hint hint) I would wear it every day if I could I think.

I need to give a HUGE thank you to my amazing husband tonight. Right after I got home he sat on our bed and gave me feed back on ALL of my TX Style Council outfit and helped me figure it all out. He is a wonderful man and I am a lucky girl. Now I'm off to eat delicious pasta that he made!

linen blend

There was an event at work today, I didn't go, but because there was a chance VIPs might be in the office, there were no jeans allowed. Obviously this meant it was time to pull out my bright pink linen blend skirt. Add my go to stripes and leopard flats, and bam a fun Friday dress up outfit.

I snagged this skirt thrifting last summer, but hadn't worn it until now. I tend to do that with thrifted pieces, you get home, wash them, they get put away and sometimes I forget to wear them for months, but I'm okay with that, it made wearing it today that much better since it was new! Speaking of thrifting, I am SO excited for the TxSC Thrifting Workshop next weekend! Gotta say being that its in Austin and I'll be learning tricks in my own neck of the woods makes it even better! Don't worry, I won't let my finds from that adventure languish in my closet for 6 months!

Drag Queen Funeral

So since I opened this page to blog, I've watched the nightly news, gotten peed on by my adorable little dog, yelled a lot, reprimanded the cute little dog, cleaned and vacuumed the whole couch, washed my hands and leg, started laundry, helped Peter with dinner (meaning I ate some of the cheese he shredded), walked the dog, and recovered the couch. Needless to say its been busy around the Compton house in the last hour.

Today at work it was decided this outfit would be appropriate for a drag queens funeral, well mostly the sparkly black top, but I think for the right Drag Queen, the whole thing would be just fine. We all know I love leopard and nothing compliments leopard like a sequin top, and never is a sequin top more appropriate than a Thursday.

Pizazz

Today there was a big all staff meeting on campus for our team. Thankfully they made the attire casual, nothing worse than a half day meeting in the middle of campus on a Friday that you also have to dress up for. So since it was a Friday, I naturally wore jeans and since the meeting was in the middle of campus and that called for walking, I wore flats, and since I love to show school spirit, I rocked the burnt orange cardi. I have no reason for the sequined covered tee or the large cat pendent, other than I like to add a bit of pizazz to everything I do.

I've never worn this many sequins at one time before. I wasn't really sure I loved the idea of it, but when I found this tee on super sale at Ann Taylor last weekend, I just went for it. I may have been called a disco ball, but I owned it and loved it. I can't wait to dress this up a little next time.

Master's

Sometimes I think I really embrace my Master's Degree in Library Science, and dress like I should be sitting behind a reference desk helping people find the perfect Nicolas Sparks novel. My mom, however, will tell you that she would not wear these wedges while working in her library, but then again, she never did understand where my love of shoes came from.

Today I did get to use my degree though, so that was fun. I love it when I get to research all morning. My sister likes to tell people I am a professional Facebook stalker, which I was in grad school, now my technique a bit more refined. However, I am your go to girl if you want info on that guy you met online.

Politics and Style

Nothing like style blogging while watching the SOTU. Man I love politics. Any who, that doesn't have much to do with my outfit for today, but oh well. Today was another "I had everything planed and at 7am it all fell apart" so I went with my go to, pencil skirt, print top, fun cardi. Boom, good to go.

To give the look a little extra oomph I put my new statement necklace with it, nothing adds glamor like a big necklace with pearls and shiny black gems. Thank you Banana Republic outlet for having such a fantastic sale!
Also, I found a place to sit for photos, pretty exciting stuff going on around the Compton house these days!

Red Alert

Happy MLK day! I love a good government holiday, it means a nice leisurely day off. All I did today was finish the Hunger Games, run out right after and buy Catching Fire, and then go to the grocery store. It was an exciting day, let me tell you. Since we weren't up to much, I obviously needed to dress up a bit. I love my red jeans but am not yet brave enough to wear them for work, so this was the perfect solution. I think the lady in the yogurt aisle was very impressed.

Today is also my dad's birthday, and I wanted to send him some love! Happy Birthday to the man who did my hair, watched my fashion shows after every shopping trip, and would tell me when the colors in my outfit didn't quite go. He is the best daddy as girl could ask for!

This is my neighbors cat, she wanted to be on the blog and with her fabulous tortie coat, I couldn't say no.

Mixer

This outfit is a combination of Pinterest inspirations, camel and leopard and polka dots and leopard. When I got dressed this morning I thought this look might be a little loud for me, as I am not typically a pattern mixer. I added the owl necklace to break things up a bit and draw attention. I'm guessing it worked since the owl was the only thing anyone commented on. By 5 today I was really pleased I went out of my comfort zone, yay for breaking out of fashion ruts and trying new things!
