Totes Profresh

It's Monday, and that means simple with a pop. A black dress, black wedges, and lovely new statement necklace made for the perfect easy Monday combo. Plus we were holding interviews in my office today, so looking professional and well put together was important.

I found this lovely necklace over the weekend, and it just makes me so darn happy. I normally have a strict no Forever 21 policy, but I am willing to bend it for jewelry only.  I've been looking for a blue/green statement necklace for a while, but since I am not one to wear jewelry a lot, I didn't want to spend much. Enter a random trip to the mall and finding the perfect solution.

April Fool's Baby

There are a few things in this life that I can just never pass up, a cup of coffee is one of them, burnt orange dresses are another. When I saw this lovely little dress, I knew it needed to be mine, it has work functions and football games written all over it. If you live in Austin and you bleed orange, I suggest you get yourself to Target ASAP, something tells me this dress will be gone in a flash, and that something is the multiple ladies at my office who are heading there to pick up their own right now.

I had a lovely and productive weekend. A clean house, fresh baked goods, and a fully planted garden. It was also Miss Petunia Jean's first birthday! She's an April fool's baby, so we had a little doggy celebration complete with peanut butter papaya ice cream. It was great, even if I can't quite believe my tiny tunes is now a year old.

Statement Necklace

Have I mentioned I have awesome coworkers? Because I do. Not only are they great to work with, they are also very fashionable and willing to share where they find things. For example, this awesome necklace. My coworker Kelley was wearing it last week and I feel in love. She shared that she found it at World Market for $10! Obviously, I had to take a trip this weekend to see if I could find my own, and thank goodness I did. I just love it and while Pete isn't the biggest fan, I can wait to wear it all summer long.

I won't be around the interwebs tomorrow night, we've got a hot date with a big group of friends for the Hunger Games at the Alamo Draft House and I am super excited! They have a special menu to go with the movie, so I will be eating Basil Wrapped Goat Cheese, Katniss' Lamb and Plum Stew, and Mellark's Bakery's Strawberry Upside-Down Cake, while drinking some sangria and enjoying the movie. Yeah, its going to be awesome.

Paprika

We're holding interviews in my office this week, so that means lots of dressing a little more professional than normal. Since I don't really own a suit, for me that translates to black with fun accents. Hence, my current go to black skirt and a polka dot blouse. Simple, business appropriate, and still fun.

Does anyone have any favorite recipes involving paprika? My mother-in-law just got back from Budapest and brought us an awesome assortment of paprika. I'd love to find new things to make using it, so if you have a suggestion please share. Hopefully at our next beer tasting, I'll also have something delicious and paprika-y for folks to enjoy!

Terrifically Tall

Over the weekend I found these great wedges at Target. I can't explain it, but they were the only pair in the store, in my size, and on sale for $8, yet online they are still full price. I'm pretty sure this pair was destined for my closet. I am not normally a lady who wears 5 inch heels, but I figured for the price, I could take the chance. They were actually fairly comfortable but then again I spent most of my day sitting at my desk sorting data. Maybe next time I'll be brave and try them out on a busy day.

This evening we went to Lowe's after I got home from work. Its time to begin gardening here in Central Texas and we're really excited about it this year. We finally have a yard to spread out in a bit, so we're going big. I can't wait for delicious tomatoes, peppers, herbs, onions, and lettuce, basically its going to be awesome! I also decided I'd try potting geraniums this year, so hopefully I'll have pretty hanging pots of flowers in a few months!

Perfect Pop of Spring

Today I wanted to hang out with an old favorite, so my trusty black wrap dress it was. I love the simplicity and versatility of this dress. I felt really put together and professional, yet it took me less than 2 minutes to get dressed. I found this scarf last week at, of all places, Walmart. I ran in for Reese's and came out with 2 scarves. I can't ever turn down a row of pretty scarves and well, pink roses just seemed to be the perfect pop of spring I didn't know I was looking for, plus it was $3.

I hope everyone had a lovely St. Patrick's Day! I dressed in my most favorite rainbow striped top and went to Target were I bought a really great owl lawn ornament and some shoes. I also met up with my lovely friend, Caitlin, for a delicious Guinness. Which was then followed by a late night pie run. I think from now on I shall celebrate every St. Patrick's day with chocolate cream pie and Guinness. I believe my many Irish relatives would certainly approve.

Saving Time

Happy daylight savings time! Normally I'm not a fan, but now a time change means no rushing for blog photos in the morning! Yay! It also means an increase in Petunia on the blog and we could all use a little more Petunia in our lives.
This dress is my new favorite Hunt.Gather.Style piece. Not only is it super cute with polka dots and paisley but its American made, complete with union made tag still on the collar! Also, I feel totally librarian-ish in it, and I LOVE that!

As I mentioned previously, I spent this weekend at the Texas Style Council conference, it was a wonderful weekend full of fashion, shopping, networking, learning, blog talk, and rain. I made some wonderful new friends (Hi Julie & Sara!) and got to see a few of my favorite people (Hi Kendi & Bryan) I have so many ideas and new goals for this little blog and I cannot wait to put them all into action. For now, please bare with me as we switch over to a .com (the comments will be wonky until that is all figured out)

Leap Day!

I was in a bit of a mood this morning, so photos weren't really something I was excited about. But, I'm committed to this little blog, so we took them, cranky face and all. I got this dress over the weekend, I wasn't planing on it, but then my mom told me about this great sale. Well I had to look and what do you know a brown and coral dress in a leopard type print for under $20? You know I couldn't say no to that!

The jean jacket was inspired by my lovely coworker. I spent a good part of Sunday night trying to figure out how to style this dress and was feeling a bit lost. Then I came into work on Monday and my coworker is sitting there with a cute print dress and a jean jacket and a light bulb went off! Thank goodness for stylish coworkers!

Tied up with a bow

Mondays are great when you spent the previous 4 days sick with the stomach flu. Somehow my coffee tasted better and even the work I had to catch up on from being out on Friday was more fulfilling. There's just something awesome about being able to eat after 3 days of nothing but toast and apple sauce.

Being that today I was in a celebratory mood I felt I should wear a big bow around my neck. This is one of the pieces from the Jason Wu line I wasn't sure I was going to keep, as I don't love how it looks with pants and that's what I was hoping to wear it with. However, it looks great tucked into a pencil skit, so I think its a keeper.

Meow

When I got dressed this morning, I told Pete this outfit screams "Hi, I have a fashion blog" and for that I love it. I had to make sure teal jeans were work appropriate but once I got the okay, I knew they would be a lovely new addition to my Friday attire.

I love the little cats all over this top, not only does it let you know that I am a cat lady, but the scoop back with the bow helps show off my tattoo quite nicely. I think this feature will be more useful come summer, because today wore the cardigan all day, so no one at work saw the back. I hope you have a lovely weekend, I am off to finish the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy and mentally prepare myself for the bridal shower I'm helping throw on Sunday!

Stripes & Equality

I've had this shirt for over 6 months and this is the first time I've worn it and I have no idea why. Its got a great cut, a classic pattern, and its totally work appropriate. One of my goals this year is to wear everything in my closet and pulling this out last night reminded me that I have a lot of hidden gems.

I decided today after watching this, that I soon plan to venture into a JC Penney. I've never really shopped there before, but if a company can be awesome and stand up to bigots, then I am happy to give them a shot.

Navy Dots

Please excuse my faces this morning, it was cold and windy and terrible outside. I am a big ol' wuss and there is no way I could do this every day if it was cold for half the year. I salute you northern blogging friends! Nothing big was going on today, but I love this dress and it seemed like a good day to wear it, and it was. I made many phone calls and its nice to feel pretty when making cold calls.

I put this outfit together this morning without thinking too much about it and then I saw this on Pinterest and suddenly I felt really smart! I knew when I got this dress it would be a classic piece I'd have for years. I think that is one of my favorite things about Ruche, the pieces are fresh but all of them have a classic element which makes them much more than one season items. I can't wait to feel smart wearing this dress for years to come!

Wu hoo

Yay for Jason Wu.
I knew I was going to like his collection before I even saw the look book, but after spending the day wearing some of the most lovely clothes, I am in love with the collection. This skirt was number one on my list of things to get and I am so glad I was able to. The pleats are perfect, its got a lovely swing, and I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of it, a black skirt is always in style. The blue top, however, wasn't even on my radar, but I'm so glad I took a chance. It has some really lovely detailing and the color is awesome. Its springy but I don't feel like an Easter egg. I added some red lipstick for a little extra pop and the flower belt to tie it all together.

Today was busy, lots of meetings and lots of activity. I also spent the day saying "thank you" as every woman in my office complimented my outfit. The ladies in my office are all different ages and I love that pieces are timeless enough that everyone agreed they were lovely.
At lunch I noticed Target was randomly making certain Jason Wu items available again on the website. I managed to snag the dress I most wanted and one of the yellow tops! I was also quick enough to get the word out and some of my friends snagged items they'd wanted as well. After all this Wu madness I'm attempting a bit of a shopping hiatus, I should be set with many pretty things for a while.
